Dr. Jane Pratt has over 25 years of leadership and experience in environmentally sustainable and equitable development in the US and international arenas. Her special focus is innovative and participatory programs for sustainability and challenges of remote rural poverty and environment, especially in mountains. Currently is a Board Member of the The Mountain Institute.

President and CEO, The Mountain Institute. The Mountain Institute is an international NGO devoted to conservation of mountain ecosystems and sustainable development for mountain people, rooted in respect for their unique cultures. TMI works in the Andes, Appalachia, and Himalaya and other ranges in partnership with local people and governments. TMI is best known for pioneering participatory conservation approaches for community-based conservation programs on a very large scale. (www.mountain.org). Dr. Pratt is also a founder of the global Mountain Forum, a network of thousands of individuals and organizations working on and in mountains, dedicated to information sharing and mutual support. The World Bank. Dr. Pratt served in various executive positions at the World Bank, including Chief, World Bank Office of UN Conference on Environment and Development (Earth Summit); Chief, Environmental Operations and Strategy Division, Chief, Country Operations for Rwanda, Burundi, and Zaire; and Assistant to the Senior Vice President, Operations. In these positions, she was responsible for introducing environmental action plans as a basis for national planning in developing countries, and was instrumental in adoption of environmental assessment in the Bank. Prior to joining the Bank, Dr. Pratt was Group Leader for Environmental Assessment and Strategy at the MITRE Corporation where she led environmental impact assessment work in the fields of energy, Federal drug eradication programs in the US and foreign countries, and environmental impacts of military land use.
