Join Mountain GIS e-Conference, 14 - 25 January 2008

Dear Mountain Forum Member,
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate in the Mountain GIS e-conference slated for 14 - 25 January 2008.
The two-week e-conference is being jointly organised by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD)
and the Mountain Forum Secretariat (MFS) to promote geo-information technology and applications for integrated mountain
development.
The e-conference has the following four-fold objectives:
- To provide a virtual platform to share knowledge and experiences in the geo-information community by facilitating dialogue among a broad user base in the region and beyond;
- To facilitate showcase geo-information applications and decision support tools and methodologies for mountain development;
- To help foster a mountain geo-information network by establishing linkages among similar regional and global initiatives; and
- To sensitise people on the use of geo-information science and technology in mountain development policies and practices.
The e-conference will address the following themes:
i) Capacity building and networking;
ii) Mountain databases, tools and methods;and
iii) Thematic applications and decision support systems.
Participation in the e-conference is free and open to all.
