The European ICT Forum for the mountains (EMICT-FORUM 2012)
Representatives of Mountain areas in Europe, let’s get on top with ICT!
They invites you to the EMICT-forum, The European Forum for Digital innovation in mountains held on 13th and 14th November in Seynod (near Annecy, French Alps). 250 participants are waited. The objective of the EMICT-Forum is to allow elected European of the mountain to fully integrate ICT into their development strategies, using tools, methods and examples from across Europe.
Europe is the continent which possesses the most variety of mountainous relief; they have been ruled by specific regional policies in order to proofread permanent geographical and natural handicaps. But beyond these handicaps, mountains are dynamic, attractive and innovative. They became territories of “constant opportunity”, particularly in the field of new technologies.
This virtuous circle should be encouraged and it needs to consolidate the digital network, considered as complex and expensive because of the relief but essential! It exists actually legal, technical, and economics solutions which can support political will of deputies of strengthen their territories with an efficient use of digital technologies.
Representative of European mountains areas will play a key-role in the debate of EMICT-Forum; they will speak about their projects and actions; will be also represented European organisations (EU commission, Committee of the Regions); states representative implied in that field, and European and national associations that are working for local improvement in mountains. Private actors of digital services (implementation of high speed broadband access, development of economical, health, education or tourism issues) will be also invited to share their experience with the audience.
During two days, European representatives people expert will discuss about six mains thematic conferences: Networks and broadband access in the mountains; the new digital-driven business activities in mountains; the role of ICTs in touristic promotion and development of mountain areas; how ICTs are providing new services to the mountain populations; ICTs are involved in biodiversity and environment protection; ICTs applied to the Mountain risk management. Join us to be part of the debates and share your experiences and local actions!
