Participatory Methods in Social Sciences for the analysis of Water, Land use and Climate Change

The 2011 ICREES Summer School will address the participatory methodologies available to social researchers to analyze environmental change, specifically in the fields of water, land and climate (common pool resources). The school will explore what methodological and conceptual tools can be used to integrate multidisciplinary research on complex social-ecological system.

This Summer School is designed to provide and equip students – through multicultural and multidisciplinary approach- with relevant participatory tools and skills for analyzing environmental issues, in particular water, land use and climate issues. It aims at integrating both the social and natural perspectives, having in mind that collaboration between scholars in the social and natural sciences is essential but often difficult in large part due to differences in methodological traditions.
