Project for broadband communication in mountain areas
Introduction
This project is possible due to Mountain Partnership - it came with the project idea and moreover provided the necessary funding.

Objectives
To assess and increase awareness of the potential for broadband communications to contribute to socioeconomic development in areas of low connectivity through the reduction of the digital divide between mountain and lowland areas.
Outcome
Improved knowledge about the connectivity situation in selected mountain areas and better understanding of the potential needs and interest of mountain communities toward broadband and its relevance for promoting socioeconomic development.
Output
- A document with the main findings of the two surveys, their analysis and proposals for follow-up actions.
- Two small workshops at country/regional level to present the results of the surveys and discuss about possible measures.
- Web page about the result of this project to be made available in the Mountain Partnership Web-site.
Scope
Two mountain areas in two different regions at different development levels - one in Romania and one in India or Nepal.
