African Mountains. Issue No 1. June 2006

This was the first Issue of the African Mountains Newsletter. This quarterly Newsletter covers news, events, technologies, innovations and all other developments within Mountain areas in Africa. It is intended to contribute to sustainable mountain development within the African region by facilitating information exchange and mutual support among the institutions and individuals either working or living in the mountains and highlands.

The newsletter is one of the latest services that Mountain Forum and African Mountain Forum offer to its members.

African Mountain Forum is the node of the Mountain Forum, a global community of individuals and organizations promoting regional and global action towards equitable and ecologically sustainable mountain development.

This global platform facilitates networking and capacity building of those involved in mountain communities and the sustainable development of mountain areas across the world. The services provided by this network include electronic discussion lists, an online library, Mountain Calendar, and e-conferences.

Members are invited to send articles that cover news, announcements, entertainment, tourism, research findings, pictures and other items for inclusion in our subsequent issues. We shall also be publishing few member profiles per issue and members should contact the editor for a template for sending member profiles.
