ENERGY DAY
Global Energy Assessment Special Session
Tuesday, June 19, 19:50-21:00,
Riocentro Convention Centre - Pavilion 3, P3-3

OVERVIEW
The Rio+20 Energy Day is a full day thematic session on energy hosted by UN-Energy.  The day will culminate in a special session on the Global Energy Assessment (GEA) presenting highlights of the Key Findings in the context of Rio+20.

The Global Energy Assessment (GEA) is a major, multi-stakeholder initiative which assesses critical global energy challenges of our rapidly changing world. It is the result of collaborative and integrated work by over 500 authors, analysts and reviewers worldwide. The GEA is the first comprehensive assessment of energy, and provides cutting-edge, policy-relevant science that addresses the multiple challenges facing energy systems and sustainable development. Thus, the GEA is uniquely placed to make a significant contribution to Rio+20 and to the UN “Sustainable Energy for All” initiative, as it mirrors the three inter-linked SE4All objectives.
