As the coordinating agency for this year's World Water Day, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations is hosting the official ceremony of World Water Day 2012 at its Headquarters in Rome on 22 March 2012.
FAO's Director-General José Graziano da Silva and a variety of speakers will take part in the "Morning Talks", to be held in the prestigous Green Room, giving their perspectives on this year's topic of ‘Water and Food Security’ and international journalist and writer Rula Jebreal will facilitate the debate.
FAO Goodwill Ambassador Anggun will be present and will perform at the close of the morning session!
The afternoon session will feature a presentation on the 4th edition of the United Nations World Development Report “Managing Water under Uncertainty and Risk” by the World Water Assessment Programme; a follow-up to the 6th World Water Forum, “From field to fork - reduce food waste and change to sustainable diets to reduce your water footprints” and the projection on the enlightening documentary "Taste the Waste".

FAO - as the lead UN agency for World Water Day 2012 - is hosting a series of events and discussions to celebrate the Day and draw attention to water’s critical role in feeding the world.
With the participation of FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva, Michel Jarraud, Director-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Chair of UN-Water, Kanayo F. Nwanze, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), journalist and author Rula Jebreal, FAO Goodwill Ambassador Anggun, and others.
