Tripura is having nearly 1.25 lakh ha area whic comes under the category of Shifting Agriculture commonly termed as "JHUM". We are working on the redevelopment of Shifting Agriculture in the Hills of Tripura specially on the management of fallow period by identifying the fallow management crops and species for restoration of soil fertility before taking up the next crops after 4-5 years in the land piece or plot where the tribal farmers has grown cropp before 4-5 years. We are also working to suggest a moddel for his livelihood aspects and food security. SARS is the research arms of Deptt. of Agricultur for formulating development plan in the Agricultural sector. Our mandate is adaptive and basic research and solution to the field probelems and development approach and trainng.
