Organisation for Development, Integration and Social Action

O.D.I.S.A. (Organisation for Development, Integration and Social Action) is a voluntary organisation working principally in southern Orissa /India. ODISA is 16 years old and is equipped with necessary infrastructure facilities, staff strength and all other legal formalities such as local registration, national registration, tax exemption, etc. ODISA's activities include empowerment of women through self help group formation, promotion of communal harmony among warring factions, defence of human rights, care of handicapped children, rehabilitation of cured leprosy patients, structural poverty alleviation through formation and education of village development committees, promotion of income generation activities among economically backward classes, direct financial assistance to petty/marginal farmers, eradication of endemic diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis, nutrition programmes for pregnant ladies and weaning mothers, awareness programme on HIV/AIDS and a full scale battle against illiteracy. Although our services are not restricted to any particular group based on caste, creed, sex or language, our predilection is for tribals and other marginalised sections of the society. Our target group consists of 60% tribals and 40% harijons (economically backward classes), and covers a population of sixty five thousand approximately spread over 300 mountainous villages in six districts of southern Orissa. We have a fairly good networking system with other NGOs existing in the area and a friendly report with government machinery.
