Mountain and Glacier Protection Organization

Mountain & Glacier Protection Organization MGPO is a social welfare, non-profit organization registered under the Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance 1961 (XLV of 1961). MGPO can operate anywhere in Pakistan including the Northern Areas of Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK). The organization was registered in August 2001. In 2004, MGPO received certification from the Pakistan Center for Philanthropy PCP certification was renewed in 2008. MGPO works with a broad based approach to improve the quality of human life and safeguard the natural environment. MGPO developed and implemented a comprehensive and sustainable waste management system to safeguard the environmental integrity of the Central Karakoram National Park in the Northern Areas.
