E-Mail: mdopak@gmail.com Phone # 0333-9672083 3 Date of establishment: August 2006. 4 Name of Registration authority, Registration No and Date of Registration: Registered with Director Industries under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 “Registration # 1265/ 5/5524” dated 21st April 2008. 5 Background of Establishment: Almighty Allah has blessed NWFP with a lot of natural resources including great diversity in climate and biodiversity as well as products of biodiversity like forest, Wildlife and Non Timber Forest Products (NTFPs). Due to un wise use and human greed for earning more money on the cost of exploitation of natural resources, the great reservoir of these resources become shrinked up to alarming level. For conservation of natural resources of the province some like minded naturalists and foresters started joint initiatives in the form of a nascent organization known “Malgari development Organization”. 6 Objectives: • To conserve the natural heritage and fragile ecosystem of FATA and NWFP. • To aware people through environmental education for sustainable use of their resources. • To involve the womenfolk in decision making through awareness of the masses. • To prioritize the needs of the communities through different means and form a comprehensive detailed plan for them. • To form linkages of the communities with the service provider organizations both in Government and NGOs. • To provide technical and financial assistance to the communities in different schemes. • Seek improvement in the working and service condition and educate the community about their existing natural resources. • Enhance the capacity of the community in the marketing and proper utilization of their natural resources. • To work for the improvement of sanitation in the area. • Work for the health and education of the poor and needy people • Seek improvement in the working and service condition of the community and individual involvement in decision making about NRM, environment and allied developmental projects. • Livelihood improvement of local communities. 7 Transparency: i. MDO staff has previous experience of working with remote communities of Alai, Battlal, Hilkot and Chattarplain of the district Mansehra, the highly Earthquake effected area. Some of the founders of MDO were instrumental implementation of CIDA funded Livelihood Rehabilitation Project in Konsh valley, district Mansehra. Some of the members are having experience in the NCSA (National Capacity Self Assistance) project funded by United Nations development Programme (UNDP), some members having rich experience of in the NWFP Forest Department. Most of the MDO members are highly experienced in the community mobilization and motivation as they have rich experience in dealing with the local communities of the rural areas especially in the highly earthquake effected areas. On going Projects: • Base line vegetation survey of Mansehra and Kohat districts. • Production of medicinal plants on private lands in Mardan with the collaboration of Medicinal Plant branch of Pakistan Forest Institute (PFI) Peshawar. • Development of village Management plan of Khaki and Karair Community Game reserve in district Mansehra.
