Lliga per a la Defensa del Patrimoni Natural

DEPANA is an NGO, with no profit motive, which was declared to be of public benefit and which has dedicated its work to the study and the protection of the natural heritage since 1976, the year in which it was founded by a group of scientists, naturalists, scholars, and others, who, in view of the ever increasing environmental degradation of our planet and of the damages inflicted on the natural habitat, were concerned with the conservation of nature, especially in the region of Catalunya. Its public benefit manifests itself in the fundamental objective of the organisation, which is to defend a general public interest: the right of all citizens to enjoy an environmentally healthy country and a better life quality. The study and the defense of the natural heritage of the country presupposes a global understanding of the dangers that affect the different species, the ecosystems and the relationship between man and his environment.
