AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Kashmir Institute of National Development (KIND) is a not for profit NGO registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Organizations (Registration and Control) Act, 1982 with the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council. Registration No. 188/2000
MISSION
To act as a catalyst for positive solutions towards uplift of poor and marginalized communities by helping them improve their social, economic and environmental conditions.
AIM
To empower communities that are enabled to manage their own future growth and progress.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
• Determine community needs and work through participatory action.
• Undertake projects that the community states as a priority. Once the demand is fulfilled, KIND passes on the completed projects into the suitably prepared hands of the community and local authorities.
• KIND employs local human resource and local labor, uses local materials, and creates solutions that are appropriate to the region where they are implemented.
• KIND builds the capacity of local partners, governments and the private sector to create communities who are economically, socially and environmentally self-sufficient.
• KIND partners with communities, government, the private sector and other international and local organizations in order to ensure that our projects have the greatest positive impact and value possible for the communities with whom we work.
CONCERNS ADDRESSED
Education, training and skills development of poor, widows and orphans
Economic independence of the poor and destitute through capacity building.
Capacity building of women to participate in health, hygiene and family welfare activities.
Support national uplift effort for alleviation of poverty.
Enlist national and international cooperation for involvement of the poor in micro-credit, energy issues, environment, natural resources management, water supply and sanitation, and, population welfare
ON-GOING ACTIVITIES
Computer Training Centre Chella, Mdz Basic Computer Training 20-25 trainees at a time. More than 100 youth trained
Vocational Training Centres Malsi, Khairabad and Muzaffarabad Basic cutting, sewing and stitching 40 women being trained in each bach.
Training Programme Training in: Mushroom Cultivation, Food Processing, Vegetable growing, Integrated Pest Management Sustainable Livelihoods and food security 300 women trained so far - continuing
