International Conference on Biodiversity Conservation and ESD at CBD COP11

As you know India is hosting the CBD COP 11 at Hyderabad in October this year. Using the opportunity of several key persons dealing with biodiversity being at this event, Centre for Environment Education (CEE) as the Nodal Agency in India for the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development is organizing an International Conference on Biodiversity Conservation and ESD titled “Learning to Conserve Biodiversity in a Rapidly Developing World”. The Conference will be held on October 13-14 at Hyderabad, India. We expect the outcomes of the Conference to be presented at the COP through a side event on October 15th.

This will be the fourth in the Series of International Conferences Organized by India as part of its contribution to the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (UNDESD), 2005‐2014. This Conference we feel will be an important one connecting Biodiversity education and ESD and will be a preparatory conference as we move to the end of the decade.

The Conference will be jointly organized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India along with UNESCO and the CBD Secretariat.

You are encouraged to share your work relevant to conference themes with practitioners, NGOs and the interested stakeholders from all around the world!
