Federal Institute for Less-Favoured and Mountainous Areas
The Federal Institute for Less-Favoured and Mountainous Areas (Bundesanstalt fuer Bergbauernfragen) founded in 1979, is a research unit affiliated with the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Environment and Watermanagement. The main focus of its work is on basic research and the asessment of applied measures concerning agricultural policies, rural and mountain development, regional planning, rural sociology and agri-environmental concerns. On account of its long experience and in-depth knowledge the institute has extensive experience in national and international co-operation. At present the institute has a permanent staff of 15, of whom 10 are senior researchers.
