Culture and Risk: a Selected Bibliography
Cultural and perceptual ideas or investigations have not had the same presence or influence in the hazards and disasters field as, say, geophysical sciences. However, it would be a mistake to imagine their literatures are less extensive or as many equally specialized disciplines. The first part of the bibliography indicates the range of work that has dealt with cultural, socio-cultural, trans-cultural and related concerns. The second part focuses more directly on work involving risk and disasters in cultural perspective. Hopefully some specific items may be of interest to individual participants, but this is intended less as a ‘reading list’ than a way to represent the scope and diversity of work that has a bearing on our concerns.
