Central-Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences

CAIAG is an independent non-profit organization and was founded in 2002 under Cooperative agreement between the Government of Kyrgyz Republic and the German GeoForschungs Zentrum, Potsdam, Germany. The main purpose of CAIAG is carrying out the scientific research in the field of Geosciences: Geodynamics and geocatastrophes; Climate, water and geoecology; Use and protection of resources. Along with this CAIAG deals with a development of technical infrastructure and information management, as well as a raising the level of scientists’ education, training and capacity building. CAIAG is developing the monitoring stations network (seismo, meteo, GNSS) in the territory of Kyrgyzstan and adjoining countries in cooperation with central-asian partners. CAIAG has well-equipped laboratories and professional stuff CAIAG provides the scientific contribution in the national disaster and water management.
