Center for Integrated Mountain Research, University of the Punjab

The CIMR, University of the Punjab since its establishment in 1987, is serving the nation as:

* Documentation Centre on integrated mountain research and development based on systematic exchange of knowledge and experiences;
* Focal Point for mobilization, conduct, and coordination of applied and problem-solving community-oriented integrated research;
* An innovative base for training on skills applicable in integrated mountain research and development;
* A consultative Center to provide expert services on integrated mountain research and development
* A forum for specific attention to highlands-lowlands interaction zones and ultimately extending to plain areas.

Study of Geoenvironmental Sciences is the main concern of the CIMR. Unfortunately, so far this subject is not taken care in its true spirit in the country. After successfully completed the first ever- Post Graduate Diploma in GeoEnvironmental Sciences, now Centre is launching very first M.Sc. degree program in vital subjects of Mountain Conservation and Watershed Management (MCWM) under the umbrella program of Geoenvironmental Sciences. The research during this course involved Project Dissertation, which will be offered by the Centre in collaboration with national and international relevant agencies.
