Call for pre-proposals for MRI Synthesis Workshops

The Mountain Research Initiative promotes and coordinates research on global change in mountain regions around the world.

As part of that mission, MRI funds workshops that bring together global change researchers from around the world to address specific topics of interest to the mountain research community with the objective of producing a synthesis article for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Have a look at upcoming and previous Synthesis Workshops at http://mri.scnatweb.ch/mri-events/ (e.g. the upcoming Synthesis Workshop on Qualities, Vulnerabilities, and Management of Ecosystem Services in Mountain Regions, or the past Synthesis Workshop on Key Drivers of Food Security in Mountains).

In preparation for its Global Commission meeting in London on 30 March 2012 in conjunction with the IGBP Congress "Planet Under Pressure" and for its eventual continuation proposal to the Swiss National Science Foundation, MRI would like to receive by 2 March 2012 your pre-proposals for additional topics that it should address through this funding program.

If your topic is selected, MRI would work with you to develop and execute the workshop, and to draft and submit the synthesis paper to an appropriate journal in the 2013-2016 timeframe.
