2nd International Conference on Mountain Environment and Development (ICME)

The ICMED-2, continues the series of ICMED, following with ICMED-1 in 2002. During 2002, declared the International Year of Mountains (IYM) by the United Nations General Assembly, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and State Forestry Administration of China (SFAC), jointly held the First International Conference on Mountain Environment and Development. In order to implement Chapter 13 of Agenda 21 of the UN further, enhance academic exchanges and promote sustainable mountain development all around the world, CAS, SFAC, NSFC and IGU will jointly hold the second ICMED on October 15-19, 2012.

This Conference will focus on the theme of “CONCERN FOR THE MOUNTAINS AND SUPPORT For OUR FUTURE”. Focusing on the themes of “Mountain Environment Evolution” and “Sustainable Mountain Development”, ICMED-2 aims to assess the mechanisms of mountain disasters, explore the evolution and controlling technologies and discuss the policy and regulation system of the sustainable development of mountain regions from both natural science and social science perspectives.
