Theme and focus
The production/production should portray a dynamic situation in the mountains in which a woman or groups of women have devised ways to take the community forward.
Celebrating Mountain Women (CMW) as an event will be a gathering of about 250 women and men meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal on May 28-31, 2002. Part of the International Year of the Mountains (IYM) celebration, the focus is on bringing various groups of people who can learn from each other. These include mountain women, policy makers, NGOs, civil society organisations, the donor community, politicians and entrepreneurs.
The three-day event will explore themes related to mountain women under the areas of research, policy and practice. A high priority will be given to networking, exhibits of foods, enterprises, singing, dancing, oral traditions of story telling, etc.
A major activity on the third day will be to auction various ideas and best practices that could be developed and converted to actual programming.
Criteria for Selection
In both print and electronic media (Three awards in each category - print, radio and video). Total 9 awards
First Place: US $ 500
Second Place: US $250
Third Place: US $100
Citation
In addition each winner will receive a citation from the sponsors of the CMW event, and the prize-winning entries will be publicised on the web sites of the CMW and IYM events. The entries will also be sent to the international Rio+10 conference to take place in September 2002 in South Africa.
